The golden rules for growing healthy hair

You will need patience to grow healthy, long, natural hair. Other than improving your diet, drinking plenty of water and exercise, and pursuing avenues that will improve your general health, there are not many things one can do to stimulate the hair growth process. Although certain vitamins or products may seem helpful for some people, there is no formula or product that guarantees hair growth for everyone. If you want to grow your hair healthy, be patient and follow these golden rules:

1. Tender hair needs tender care.

Use a tender hand to care for your hair. Prevent your curls from tangling but also master the art of untangling.

2. When it comes to products, less is more.

There is no need for a thousand different expensive products. Too many different products on one head only leave buildup and may clog pores. Look for a few basic products that work for your hair.

3. Tender hair needs gentle products and natural hair loves natural products. Stop using harsh shampoos and start reading product labels. Look for gentle and natural ingredients and products.

4. Keep hair and scalp clean.

Regularly wash hair and scalp. Hair can only flourish on a scalp that is free from pollution, dust and product buildup.

5. Leave your hair alone.

This is key! Do you know why dreadlocks grow long? It is because hair is allowed to grow without being disturbed. Try to keep a hairstyle as long as possible but no longer than three months unless you want to loc your hair.

6. Moisture, moisture, moisture.

Water is your friend, so keep your curls moisturized all the time.

7. Say “no” to heat.

Avoid using heat appliances like blow dryers and stop using straightening irons altogether. They damage the coils and ruin the shape of your beautiful naps.

8. Trim your hair.

If you have split ends, trim your hair. Split ends tear up your strands and fuel tangling.

9. Enjoy your hair!
